More than 25 years of cases made to order
Smart Cases was founded by Nikolay Kirov, one of the pioneers of flightcase making in Bulgaria, and began as a small family workshop in Sofia. By 2008 he had spent eight years building cases: to individual designs, and as standard cases for the hardest working conditions. The company was registered as Smart Cases Ltd. in 2006.
The rule has not changed since the first case: we build only to order, around the equipment the case carries and the way its owner works. Panels are laminated birch plywood, edges are aluminium, and the materials come from leading manufacturers in the trade.

How we work
You send us the equipment: make and model, measurements, photos if you have them, and how the case will travel and be used. We come back with questions, suggestions and alternatives, then a price. Once you agree, the case is built to that specification and delivered on the agreed date.
What we believe a case should do
Three principles we have built by since the first workshop.
Each case is planned for one set of equipment and one way of working, never taken from a shelf.
High strength at a relatively low weight, so the case protects without becoming a load of its own.
Foam cut to the shape of the instrument, or a universal interior that takes different models.

- A mixing console case with a frame behind the desk that hides and protects the rear connections and adds a work surface within reach.
- Two cellos in one case, with room for bows and clothes, to save space and weight on flights.
- A touring tuba case with an interior that can be rearranged for different models.
- A pedalboard on wheels that the musician can pull and rearrange without help.
- A video mixing desk case with mounts for the screens.
